Transportation Company - Golden Triangle - Railroad

Company History: The Golden Triangle Railroad (GTRA) operates over 10 track miles in central Mississippi. The GTRA interchanges with Kansas City Southern (KCS) at Columbus, Mississippi, and with BNSF and Norfolk Southern (via the Alabama Gulf Coast Railroad) via trackage rights over the KCS. The GTRA serves a Weyerhaeuser modified fiber mill in Columbus.
The 10 mile GTRA was built in 1982 by Weyerhaeuser to serve their fiber mill in Columbus, Mississippi and connect with local class one railroads and shortlines. Weyerhaeuser sold this line (and several others) to the Patriot Rail shortline family in 2010. Traffic includes chemicals, corn starch and wood pulp. The GTRA owns a locomotive repair shop that holds up to 2 locomotives.
