Associated Electric Cooperative

Company History: Associated Electric Cooperative has only six owners. Those owners are the six generation and transmission cooperatives (G&Ts) that formed Associated Electric in 1961 to provide an economical, reliable wholesale power supply and support services.
Associated Electric Coop takes coal from the Rochelle Mine in Powder River to their two plants in New Madrid and Thomas Hill Missouri. The trains originate with UP or CNW power and were interchanged premerger to the SP in East St. Louis. They currently run through on UP all the way. The AECX trains are normally 115 cars long, running rotary end first, without a double rotary car.
