Company History: FrontRunner opened in 2008 providing commuter rail service from Provo north to Salt Lake City and Ogden with some trains continuing north to Peasant View, Utah. Weekdays typically see 25 round trips on the Provo to Ogden segment. Trains are run in push-pull service with the locomotive on the north end of the train. Most of the line is classed as a quite zone (as is the parallel Union Pacific line through this area) meaning that trains are not required to sound horns for grade crossings. The locomotive fleet includes fifteen MP36PH-3C’s for passenger service and a single GP39 for switching and MOW service. The passenger car fleet includes twelve Bombardier bi-level coaches and eight matching cab cars and 25 Comet I single level coaches picked up secondhand from NJ Transit and refurbished by Bombardier. The bi-levels and Comet I cars are used together.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
