Company History: The Delta Valley & Southern was born in 1934 when the Wilson family purchased the 18 mile Frisco branch between Delpro and Tyronza, Arkansas. In 1947, 16 of the 18 miles on the Tyronza end were abandoned leaving the DV&S to operate the 2 miles from Delpro to Elkins. The DV&S replaced their steam locomotive with a new GE 45-tonner in 1954. The biggest (and only) customer in recent years has been a cotton processing plant. The 45-tonner was replaced in 2009. The DV&S continues to haul cottonseed today.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
