Company History: OC&E was established in 1915 and by 1928 had built a line from Klamath Falls to Bly, Oregon, a distance of 65 miles. In 1927, Southern Pacific bought the line and in 1928 sold a half interest in it to Great Northern. SP and GN took turns running the line, trading every five years. In 1975, they sold the line to Weyerhaeuser Corporation who had a logging railroad that connected to the OC&E near Bly. For the next 15 years, OC&E hauled cut lumber and logs. Daily 90 car log trains became the norm.
In 1990, the mill drastically scaled back production and the railroad was shut down except for a small segment in Klamath Falls that served an asphalt plant. In 1991, that section was also abandoned.
