Company History: TRCX was launched in 1989 as a temporary measure to get commuters off of I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, both of which were being widened. Traffic was greater than expected and the operation became permanent, expanding to today’s 71 mile system running from West Palm Beach, Florida south to Boca Raton, Pampano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Opa-locka and finally, Miami. This was a Seaboard Air Line route. The passenger car fleet is a mix of coaches and cab cars from Bombardier and Hyundai. They also have a modest fleet of Colorado Railcar DMU sets (a sort of Doodlebug for the 21st century.) The locomotive fleet includes a GP40-2W, five F40PHL-2’s, three F40PH-2C’s, two F40PHR’s, six GP49PH-3’s, twelve BL36PH’s and an FP7.
