Transportation Company - Palouse River & Coulee City - Railroad

Company History: The PCC runs 202 miles of line split into three groups in Southeastern Washington and the adjoining states. The first connects Princeton, Idaho with a point just east of Palouse, Washington. The second is a Y shaped line in Washington with Hooper Junction at the base, Winona at the split and Thornton and Colfax at the ends. The third runs from Wallula, Washington east to Walla Walla and Wallair with an intersecting line from Dayton, Washington south through Walla Walla to Weston, Oregon. The second and third groups are connected via trackage rights on Union Pacific between Hooper Junction and Wallulla. The PCC was established by the Watco Companies shortline group in 1996 to takeover operation of some of these line segments from BNSF as well as much of the trackage of another Watco line, the Blue Mountain Railroad. Sometime after 2000, the remaining Blue Mountain Railroad routes were also merged into the PCC. In 2018, PCC bowed out as operator of the Zanger Junction – Walla Walla – Weston segment, returning operation to Union Pacific. Traffic includes wheat, lentils and barley.
