Company History: The OVR was born in 2007 to acquire the 27 mile line between Fulton and Mexico, Missouri from Kansas City Southern. This had been a Chicago & Alton branch that had passed through the hands of Alton Railroad, Gulf Mobile & Ohio, Illinois Central Gulf, Chicago Missouri & Western, Gateway Western and KCS. Most of the business is at the Mexico end where OVR connects with KCS. The Fulton end had one customer (a brick supplier) that sees occasional service.
Brief History: Mexico is a country between the U.S. and Central America that's known for its Pacific and Gulf of Mexico beaches and its diverse landscape of mountains, deserts and jungles. Ancient ruins such as Teotihuacán and the Mayan city of Chichén Itzá are scattered throughout the country, as are Spanish colonial-era towns. In capital Mexico City, upscale shops, renowned museums and gourmet restaurants cater to modern life.
