Company History: The NNW opened in 2010 with the purchase of the 7 mile line between Dakota Junction and Chadron, Nebraska from Dakota Minnesota & Eastern. This was formerly part of Chicago & North Western’s Cowboy Line. The deal included 21 miles of trackage rights to the BNSF mainline at Crawford. In 2013, the NNW acquired the last 4 miles of the Nebkota Railway in Chadron. This is yet another railroad whose red paint scheme is a nod to the University of Nebraska.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
