Company History: The M&SCRC opened in 1909 and by 1916 had an interurban line from Montreal and Longueuil east to Granby, Quebec. Grand Trunk Railway took control of the company and this control passed to Canadian National in 1923. The city of Montreal was reached over the Victoria Bridge. In 1951, parent Canadian National dropped the M&SCRC interurbans east of Marieville (about half the length of the line) in favor of CN diesel powered trains. In 1955, service over the bridge to Montreal ended and the following year, the last interurban ran on the remaining route.
