Transportation Company - Georgia Woodlands - Railroad

Company History: The GWRC swooped onto the scene in 1988 to take over the route of the Georgia Eastern which was in financial trouble after just 16 months of operation. It ran the 17 mile former Washington Branch of the Georgia Railroad between Washington and Barnett, Georgia. At that time, GWRC was owned by the parent company of the Chicago West Pullman & Southern. Traffic in the early days included fertilizer, lumber, plastics, pulpwood, and woodchips with about 50 cars moving in a typical week. GWRC joined the OmniTRAX family of shortlines in 1992.
