Company History: The GAS&C was formed in 1922 by the Pidcock Lines (or Pidcock Kingdom depending on who you ask) to take over operation of the 50 mile Camilla to Ashburn, Georgia segment of the former Gulf Line Railway, a former subsidiary of Southern Railway that had been cast into receivership. The Pidcock Lines were famous for running single FTA diesels on local freights through the late 1960s. In 1966, Southern Railway bought control of the surviving Pidcock Lines and in 1972 the GAS&C was merged into the Georgia Northern (the most important of the Pidcock Lines.)
Successor/Parent History: Georgia Northern is the most important of the Pidcock Lines.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
