Notes: This fountain pen honors Marguerite "Peggy" Guggenheim (August 26, 1898 – December 23, 1979): eccentric champion of moder art.
Peggy Guggenheim was an American art collector, bohemian and sociolite.
She created a collection in Europe and United States and settled in Venice, Italy, where she lived and exhibited her collection.
The "Peggy Guggenheim Collection", located on the Grand Canal in Venice, is one of Europe's first museums devoted to modern art. The clean lines characteristic of this syle inspired the straight shapes of the cap, clip and barrel of the Peggy Guggenheim Limited Edition . The Peggy Guggenheim Limited Edition 81, created in 2016, is limited to only 81 pieces worldwide.
It was made by a master craftsman using the finest materials and applying the utmost precision.81.
The lion's head clip design refers to the Lion of Sain Mark, symbol of the city of Venice, while the pattern on the cap ring recalls certain graphic details on Guggenheim's Venitian palazzo. Capturing her penchant for zebra fur, used in every room of the palazzo, the cap of the Peggy Guggenheim 81 is opulently decorated in black and white stripes. The cap is crowned by the Montblanc emblem in white marble, recalling the palazzo's distinctive marble facade. The city which is still home to the famous Peggy Guggenheim Collection is represented on the cone by a red lacquer inlay spiral bringing to mind the striped mooring poles lining Venetian waterways. The lion heads carved on the cap ring is inspired by the exterior of "Palazzo Venier dei Leoni", the Peggy's Venetian home, richly decorated with the symbol of Venice. Champagne AU 750 fittings.
