Specific Item Information: Ford Thames 400E Van, Southdown. Part of the Southdown bus fleet, our two-tone green and cream model was assigned to the Engineering Department in Edward Street, Brighton. Its advertising slogans on the sides are promoting the company’s many activities while the famous Southdown name features on the sides and over the rear doors in gold and black. Team it up with a Southdown bus or coach of the period for another touch of realism.
Model Information: Factory painted and assembled, the Oxford Diecast line of metal vehicle models are 1:148 (British) N-Scale.
Prototype History:
The Ford Thames 400E is a commercial vehicle that was made by Ford UK and introduced in 1957. Production of the range continued until September 1965, by which time a total of 187,000 had been built.
Road Name History: Southdown Motor Services Ltd operates bus and coach services in East and West Sussex and parts of Hampshire, in southern England. It was formed in 1915 and had various owners throughout its history, being purchased by the National Bus Company (NBC) in 1969. The company fleet name was lost when it was acquired by the Stagecoach Group in 1989 but continues as the legal name of Stagecoach in the South Downs, part of Stagecoach South.
Manufacturer Information:
Established in 1993, Oxford Diecast is a British Company that specializes in high-quality die-cast metal vehicles. Produced in various scales, the firm's models are marketed as collector items, gifts, and promotional products. Their largest production goes to OO scale (1:76) and in 2015 they introduced railway products under 'Oxford Rail' brand.
Their N-scale collection is using the 1:148 scale ratio as most British manufacturers.
