Hoboken Shore

Company History: The Hoboken Manufacturers Railroad opened in 1897 to link the docks of the Hoboken, New Jersey waterfront to a connection with the Erie Railroad. During this early period, much of the line had trolley wire and was switched by a pair of steeple cab electrics in addition to an 0-6-0 and 0-4-0. Early boxcab diesels also joined the roster, later joined by an HH660 and a pair of GE 44-tonners. The name was changed to Hoboken Shore Railroad in 1954. Traffic dwindled to nothing by 1977 and they filed for abandonment the following year.
