Notes: Thomas Chippendale's influence can be seen in Philadelphia furniture of the 18th century including this arm chair attributed to Thomas Affleck. Affleck moved from Scotland to London in 1760 and then traveled to Philadelphia in 1763. Philadelphia during this period was a common place for skilled craftsmen and London-trained artisans to move to for independence. The arm chair has a camelback design, curved arm supports, and carved square legs.
