Earlier this month, Trainworx announced that it will produce a new tooling for the Denver & Rio Grande Western offset-cupola caboose no. 01403 (as built in 1940).
Pre-orders for these cars are due by November 30, 2017 with an estimated summer 2018 delivery.
These cars will run $59.95. This is a highly detailed model. Excluding brass, this is likely the most detailed model of a caboose in N Scale ever produced. It will have the following features: etched metal grab irons, ladders and roof walks; friction-bearing caboose trucks with metal wheels; and electrical pickup and body-mounted magnetic knuckle couplers.
Electrical Pickup? For user-installed lighting? Will there be an add-on kit for interior lighting or maybe a FRED? At this price maybe it will come with lighting but they forgot to mention it. We will have to wait and see.
Here is the original announcement.
