On September 6, 2017, Atlas announced (via its Insider Information e-mail blast) that it will produce a new box car body style -- BX-177 Box Car -- under its Masterline Rolling Stock brand. The company had already announced this offering over the summer at several train shows.
Atlas has given a 1st Quarter 2018 estimated delivery time frame and a pre-order date of Wednesday, October 4, 2017.
Although the product does look like and is similar to the BLMA BX-166 62-foot insulated boxcar (Atlas acquired BLMA), it is in fact a new tooling.
The product will run $31.95 and be available under two road names, BNSF and Santa Fe, come in two paint schemes Swoosh Logo (BNSF) and Original Paint (Santa Fe) with 12 road numbers for each road name.
As expected from the Masterline Rolling Stock brand, this product will have high-end features including ultra-find detail, prototypical ride height, 100-ton trucks and separately applied cut levers.
