On June 30, 2017, Micro-Trains announced a new body style: 68 foot DODX (Department of Defense) flat car. These new cars will be available in the summer of 2018 with a pre-order deadline through July 31.
These cars are based on the 68 foot multipurpose flat car Fruit Growers Express built in 1981 under commission by the DODX. The flat cars will be available in multi-packs and come in 4 axle and 6 axle versions.
The 3 packs will come in red ($109.95), green ($124.95) or mixed ($124.95) colors and carry either one or two M1 Abram tanks. Each flat car will come with Micro-Train's new plastic injection molded kits of the M1 Abram tank with chain tie-downs.
The Navy 5 packs ($199.95) will come in gray/silver and carry a shipboard booster rocket. Each car will include a two-piece resin-cast load (booster) also made by Micro-Trains.
