Notes: The mouth of the bowl measures 5" in diameter and the foot is 2.25" across. The bowl itself stands 2.5" high without the lid, and 4.25" when the lid is in place. The bottom of the piece bears Sorensen's incised script signature and an encircled "S" surmounted by the word "BRONZE". The piece weighs 10 oz.
Manufacturer History: Carl Sorensen produced most of his work in Philadelphia in the early 20th century. He focused his metalwork in copper and bronze desk accessories and decorative pieces. Sorensen later became a designer for Tiffany Studios in New York and not much information is known on his subsequent career.

The majority of Carl Sorensen's work can be easily distinguished from other Arts and Crafts metalwork with his use of a distinct verdigris patina and inlaid bronze bands. Many of Sorensen's pieces are marked with his logo of an "S" inscribed within a "C" and "Carl Sorensen" in script. Vases are prominent among Sorensen's work with their flared form, mottled green tone, and copper rings on the rim or base.
