Company History: FLS was established in 2006 as a subsidiary of the Canton Railroad to switch the Principio Business Park in Perryville, Maryland. The line is switched with a single SW1500 and two employees. Traffic includes grain, fuel, lumber, shingles, soap, tractors and warehouse supplies.
Successor/Parent History:
The CTN opened in 1907 to serve the port areas of western Baltimore, Maryland. The company was established by the property developer after failing to interest PRR or B&O in the project. The railroad fell into receivership in 1984 after some hanky-panky with their finances. In 1987, the State Of Maryland bought the Canton Railroad at auction and operates it today as a for-profit company. The line has 23 miles of track, 6 of which is the mainline. The spiffy black and yellow paint scheme is based on the Maryland state flag. This has recently been replaced with a depiction of the Baltimore skyline while retaining the state flag colors
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
