Transportation Company - Wyandotte Southern - Railroad

Company History: This 4 mile shortline was built in 1901 as the Pennsalt Railroad and reorganized in 1908 as the Wyandotte Southern. Their principal customer and owner was the Penn Salt chemical plant in Riverview, Michigan. Connections were with Detroit Toledo & Ironton, Wyandotte Terminal and Michigan Central (New York Central System.) In the diesel era, WYS ran with a Baldwin DS-4-4-660 and later a GE center cab SL-144. The Wyandotte Southern shut down in June, 1986.
