Transportation Company - Yellowstone Valley - Railroad

Company History: This line launched in 2005 as a spinoff of BNSF. The Watco shortline group established the Yellowstone Valley to lease 171 miles of former Great Northern and Northern Pacific lines from Crane, Montana northeast to East Fairview and Dore just over the border in North Dakota, then northwest back into Montana to Scobey. Traffic was primarily farm goods. However, the region’s oil and gas boom began to significantly increase traffic on the line. Around 2014, BNSF canceled the lease on most of the route, leaving the Yellowstone Valley Railroad to switch just 4 miles of line at Dore, North Dakota. BNSF resumed operation on the rest of the route.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
