Description: Clock
Dimensions: 95" High x 19 1/2" Wide x 10 1/4" Deep
Notes: Chippendale style mahogany block-and-shell clock with dial signed by Seril Dodge. Inside the case door an inscription is handwritten on a paper label, "When the moon is full, or new moon, the tide at Newport is high". This clock is a great example of the craftsmanship of Newport and Providence manufacturers. The case features a carved and blocked shell that illustrates the work of a highly skilled craftsman. This clock is one of about five or six known to survive that is signed by Seril Dodge.
